Glenn Polk started out in the car business in September of 1971 while taking a two-week vacation from his electrical job. Glenn was so successful his first week in sales that he decided to pursue his new career in the automotive industry. Quickly realizing that “customer satisfaction” is top priority, helped Glenn with his promotion to “Assistant Manager” only four months into his new career.
After many years of running dealerships across the metroplex, Glenn figured it was time to go after his goal of owning his own dealership. So, he and his family moved from Arlington, TX to Gainesville to start their new journey. Glenn opened the doors to Glenn Polk Ford – Mercury on April, 15 1995 in a brand-new facility on Interstate 35 across from the Gainesville Outlet Mall. With only 21 employees and 116 vehicles on the lot, the dealership rapidly grew and exceeded the expectations of both the Polk Family along with Ford Motor Company.
In 1998, the Polk’s were presented the opportunity to expand the dealership with the addition of Johnson Motor Company who owned and operated the local Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Plymouth, Oldsmobile & Cadillac franchises in downtown. Glenn Polk AutoPlex was relocated two years later to the current facility beside the Ford store.
With sales increasing and the used car market booming, it was time for another expansion which led to the opening of our third building just south of the Ford store. In 2011, Glenn Polk Supercenter opened its doors which allowed our dealership to focus on all makes & models of pre-owned vehicles ranging from $3,995 – $100,000. Since 2011, our Supercenter has sold over 5,000 vehicles all across the globe.
On March 2019 the Glenn Polk Auto family grew again with the additions of Glenn Polk Chevrolet Buick GMC of Gainesville and Glenn Polk Chevrolet of Sanger. Our Sanger facility was the first acquisition outside of Cooke county.
